A Brief Bio

Songwriter’s Tip Jar was started by Daniel David Johnson and Robert Coté, two passionate, committed musician/songwriters. When they demo’d the idea of a newsletter for and by songwriters, the reaction was immediate: “Sign me up, I want to be part of this!” was a typical response.

After the weekly ezine launched, STJ started a more ambitious project called STJ Forums. STJ Forums is a free online songwriter web site that satisfied the songwriters’ desire to communicate more directly with each other, using message boards, private mail, email and instant messaging (chat).

Over the next three years, thousands of songwriters worldwide signed on to receive the newsletter and to participate in STJ Forums.

Daniel David Johnson has been writing music and lyrics for 35 years, in a variety of styles including rock, Americana, folk, R&B, jazz, country and bluegrass. His latest project is a jazzy, neo-folk, New Thought duo called Soulpajamas. Hear demos of his songs at Broadjam.com.

Robert Coté is a talented lifelong musician: multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter and arranger. From writing to performing, piano tuning to MIDI sequencing, Robert has a depth of experience in music that is second to none. He is currently the lead singer and bass guitar player with the NVC Orchestra in Scottsdale, Arizona. Both Robert and Daniel have served as volunteer songwriting ‘experts’ at AllExperts.com.
